Sorry no pics and I hope this the proper spot.
Anyhow when I was down south in Mississippi and New Orleans, My buds and I tried some 'gator'. The 1st was gator tail, floured & fried served with what they call "Comeback" sauce. The second was gator sirloin tidbits served with a tabasco ranch. The tail was a cross between calimari & chicken and the tidbits were like hunks of breast.
It was pretty good and suprisingly tasty for a lizard. I think I ate my years worth of crab, shrimp, crawfish and catfish. I went to some retaurant and dined on steak & lobster for $19.99:eek: Nothing like making the wife jelous :p Might as well make the best of it while there eh ;)

Glad you enjoyed your time down there. There's nothing better than Cajun cuisine, as far as I'm concerned. 'Gator was one thing I didn't get a chance to try while I was there- saw some big buggers though.

The best meal I've had in my life was done up by a Cajun friend: Redfish fresh out of the bayou that morning, done up on noodles, smothered in red sauce.

South Louisiana is the friendliest, most hospitable, place I've ever been. And they do love their firearms. :)

there was a time we could get it at your local butchers, along with swordfish- from your description, it sounds like you got a hold of a old/large one- the young ones taste more like chicken- done up with a mushroom sauce - delicous-
