Mitchell Black Lightning in Canada?

Saw a Mitchell's Mauser's Black Lightning chambered in .22 Magnum at a gun shop in Colorado today.

I was wondering if anyone has seen these for sale in Canada?

It's a bit pricey for a rimfire rifle at around $600 USD but it sure looks cool! A quick search of the internet seems to support the idea that its a re-badged Excel Arms Accelerator.

If not available at home, this might be one worth jumping through the import hoops for.

I don't think they are available in .22 lr. On the Mitchell site (www.mauser.org) they only show the .22 magnum. On the Excel Arms site (www.excelarms.com) they show the Accelerator as being available in .22 WMR and 5.7X28mm.

From the lack of posts to this thread, I will have to assume that they haven't been seen in Canada. I just may have to go buy that one now!

I've never shot a .22 magnum but would like to!

I also just realized that it would be restricted in Canada. Overall length is fine but the barrel is a tad short of non-restricted status at 18".

I wonder if they'd make me one with a longer barrel?

I am pretty sure we can have 16.5" barells on non restricted. Many .22's are 16.5" IE Ruger 10/22, some Savages etc.

For rimfire the oal is what matters. Can have a 8" barrel as long at its over 26" total length

I get all the lengths, etc confused on a regular basis. Is there a site or page I can bookmark that lays it out in plain verbiage for a noob?

Not really anything that lays it out in good wording. The cfp site is probably one of the best places to look for stuff.

Talked to the people at mausers.org, and they have no dealers in Canada. :-(

I have looked into importing one and I'm not sure I want to pay someone $200 or more to fill out some forms for me. It is a cool looking unit but adding 1/3 to the price just to get it home kinda takes some of the shine off.
