What is the consensus on ordering parts for a 1911 and having a builder put them together?
Would I legally be able to attain all the pieces?
Is this offensive to a builder?
Any comments are welcomed. Thanks.

Most builders like to source their own parts for their builds.

Building a 1911 pistol requires a working knowledge of the functioning of the gun.
And then requires Pistol-smithing skills and tools, in order to arrive at a safe, correctly functioning firearm.

It's not Leggo EH!:p:)

Better off dropping $1200-$1500 on a Dlask... Pretty much a custom build anyway.
You need at minimum a matched slide and frame or you could end up paying a bunch just to have those fit properly. That involves welding and recutting the rails. Better off when it's done right from the start.
For the small parts, no point chimping out on MIM if you are having a smith fit it all. EGW makes forged everything, I think Wilson does too with the Bulletproof line. Won't be cheap either way.

Hmmm. Well money is no concern. Just want the best possible. I do hear that joe dlask is a 1911 wizard of sorts so perhaps i will call him in due time.
