Mixed feelings about single point slings

What stock, traditional or Knoxx style? With reciever/stock sling loop of some sort? Barrel length? I have a 14" HP9 with Knoxx. I have the sling wrapped around the stock right now but I am getting the Mesa sling loop that mounts from the trigger pin location. I love the single point for what I use it for which is to carry my short shotgun around easily when I walk about the property. I don't use it for any hunting applications. I don't think I would use it with any longer barrel as I'm 5'9" and an 18" barrel would hang a little low for me. I also carry with the stock in the second from shortest position. Any further out and it rubs under my arm.

Sounds like you've got a nice set up elimsprint. With a pistol grip stock I wouldn't have a problem mounting a sing point.

I'am running a Mossberg 500 breecher,18" barrel ,+1 mag ext with a Hogue short [think its like 12"] LOP stock with a GG&G single point sling plate that mounts between the the stock and the recever,it adds just the right amount of length for me,but it sticks out on the left side, making it hard to fire left handed.

You're a southpaw? Or you just want to shoot that way sometimes? If you are left handed get a left hand sling plate from S&J or whoever. If not maybe the Mesa Tactical HK hook style loop would be better for you. Or this would probably get it out of the way for you also ht t p://sjhardware.com/OLS/default/mesa-tactical/other-shotgun-accessories/remington-870-hk-loop-ambi-single-point-sling-mount.html

I was just fooling around here. I have an 11-87 with the sling loop like yours and I tried mounting the shotgun southpaw with the single point on right handed. Is it the sling pinching your thumb under recoil that you don't like? I found that if I swing the gun butt over the sling it blocks my trigger finger a bit and may pinch it under recoil. If it goes under, hard to do, it feels like it would pinch my thumb under recoil. I think that ambi HK hook would help. I didn't fire my gun but that is just my first impressions.

Just had another look at mine, and I shouldn't post when tired, when/if I shot left handed the joint of my trigger finger, close to the hand is jamed against the sling plate, and I haven't tried it yet ,but thinking its going to hurt with buck shot.

Its just something that seems to limit the options of use, righthanded only, might just drop it and rap something around the stock,or end of stock.

have to have a look at a HK hook, that might work.

So I fired the 11-87 today southpaw with the single point sling in a right hand carry configuration. I really don't know why anyone would want to do that unless it's for a 3-gun course of fire or something:rolleyes: Maybe I'm just uncoordinated but I couldn't shoot it worth ####. I used to be OK weak hand with a handgun but this just felt weird. Anyways, back to the test: With the strap over my trigger finger it didn't pinch as the sling moved over by the time I got the shotgun mounted and ready to fire. DON'T try it with the strap over your thumb, the does get a nice pinch and I was only using 2-3/4" medium hunting loads. I could see 3" mag slugs or buckshot breaking your thumb easy if it pinches:eek:.
