MK12 clones...who's got 'em? Let's see them! -- Weapon specs added

A lot available on brownells including pri front mk12 muzzle device pro sleeve (alternative to swan) spr contour barrel and few flavours of mk12 gas block. Just need the money for it. Not to mention some scopes are discontinued or never exported out of us
 
Optic will be the hardest to find. ..
They don't even make the NF 2.5 10×24 mildot anymore. The illuminted leupold is almost just as hard to find.

Lol, brutal!! Maybe I will actually settle for "close enough" on this one, hahahaha! I really like the look of the Mod 0 and Mod 1, but I think I should resign myself to accept that this will not be a complete build.

I guess I should figure out if I should bother starting this project, if I should start tearing down this rifle and building something that's "close enough", or if I should sell this rifle all together and start from scratch.

I know that what I have has almost nothing to do with the Mk12 other than belonging to the AR family, but "close enough" has been on my mind after my previous build.

I'm torn because this rifle shoots really well, but boredom is a dangerous thing when mixed with OCD and too many war movies featuring certain firearms, lol!

I REALLY lucked out on finding the optic. (NF)
A fellow tactical shooter from nowhere Saskatchewan had it sitting on his coyote gun.....

as for the other parts:

Douglas barrel- importable, expensive
KAC Rail or PRI rail- Can be found in Canada
Knights Black front sight- rare but they are out there
PRI gasbuster- no problem
ARMS M rings- no problem
Ops Inc muzzle device- HARD to import or find
Swan Sleeve for Mod0- hahah... good luck

$1600 USD though...and that's before any shipping, tax and import fees (would probably have to go through irunguns or something to bring this in. $2141.28 plus the rest of it is a hard pill to swallow.....

But I want, lol!

Hmmm....saw them. $2,265 USD for their upper before shipping, taxes, duty, exchange and any import fees....

Will have to do a bit more research and see what the differences are.
 
That is steep at today's exchange rate.

I just purchased the barrel, rail, fsb, swan sleeve and brake from them and assembled it myself when the dollar was at par. I miss the glory days of our dollar!
 
Lol, I'm pretty torn about the price.....my PWS build already shoots sub MOA, so for minimal precision gains from what I already have, this is definitely about looks, and I love the looks of the Mod 0 and Mod 1.

I just keep asking myself is $2,500 (my guess for the PRI upper after exchange, duty, tax, import) worth it for just the looks, lol!

Anyway, hope to see more pics in this thread to push me over the edge :)
 
The real MK12 has a douglas ( or Lija? So many years ago..I start forgetting stuff) barrel chambered by compass lake engineering. The contour is what they refer to as "medium". eyeballing it, it is less than 1", my guest is 0.85 to 0.9" ish, no thrill profile.

I built one almost 10 years ago with KAC URX2 instead KAC RAS FF, with Vitor gas block. Not a big fan of PRS tube and the ARMS swarm sleeve. The OPS INC brake looks cool, but I was warned when it wears out it may get a "baffle strike". For all practicality it is a technology of 10 years ago. If I gonna do it again I will get some thing else other than OPS Inc brake and put more on flash suppression than braking.

Gas buster works for gas busting with a suppressor, but the steel latch also wears out receiver latching recess. For practical use, use a BCM gunfighter instead. BCM uses an aluminum latch that doesn't wear out the receiver. Not sure about the others.

The original MK12 uses the leupold SPR scope. I used to have one. It is functional and practical for the MK12, but it is not the best scope in terms of optic quality.

I guess that is why the MK12 is outdated because its components have some downfall.
