Hello,
I've enjoyed shooting my Ruger since getting it this spring. But I think it's time to upgrade some of the stock parts to make it "better". I was wondering what everyone else has done to their MKIII 22/45's. ie. what worked, what didn't....what is absolutely necessary, what is not. I'm also looking for ideas to "fatten" up the grip as I still find it thin in my hands.

Thanks.

Installed Valq - Extractor on mine.
Loctited the key lock in as I will never use it.

I removed the mag safety and replaced it with a regular stainless washer from Home Depot (had to increase the I.D. though to fit properly)

That's it - It's a great gun.

I wish someone made a "key" to fit the LCI slot though and make it look like an MKII (I am not fond of the LCI)

I stuck a hogue slip on grip on my MKII-22/45 and it feels really good in the hand. Also stuck a VQ sear in it and it made the trigger pull really nice. That's it for mods for me.

I was thinking about get the Volquartsen Ruger Mark III Accurizing Kit.
The kit that includes:
Volquartsen's stainless steel target hammer and a stainless steel micro polished sear (both parts are surface ground for exacting tolerances).
A redesigned CNC target trigger with pretravel and overtravel adjustments.
A polished trigger plunger and spring is included along with Volquartsen's extended bolt release. All for a little over $100.

On the other hand for around $30, a Target sear kit and the Exact Edge Extractor may do the job.

Thanks for the input.

Just wondering if you were experiencing problems with yours, and thus were looking for upgrades? I bought the same model in August, and have only put about 1000 rounds through it so far, but absolutely no problems.

Cheers,

Neal

No problems to report unless one considers some FTF's & FTE's (to be).
I find the 100lb trigger to be a bit sloppy and was thinking about changing some factory parts to "fix" the occassional FTE and trigger.
I think the FTF's start happening when the HG gets dirty causing the LCI to stick(?). Other than that I really like this little .22 (now if only I can get enough courage to dremel the grips off and add some nice 1911 grips)
