How do the Ruger MKIII and Browning Buck Mark compare when it comes to field stripping and cleaning? Is one more complicated than the other? Is the difference significant? (Looking for first hand info here.)

Thanks.

The Ruger is a PITA to strip but I wouldn't base my final decision on this insignificant detail. It's a PITA (The first few times), not impossible! Regardless, I still chose the Ruger.

You really can't go wrong with either but make sure you handle them before making any decisions.

The OP has "informed" me by PM that he doesn't like platitudes and that my "You really can't go wrong with either" statement is unacceptable. So here goes nothing...

Ruger all the way!!! Everything else blows!!! Buckmark? Please, I don't even know why they make those @%$# pistols.

Better?

The Ruger does require a couple of special techniques in terms of how you hold the gun while doing some things. If you check You Tube you'll find videos which show this. It's not hard. It's just a technique.

I assume that the Buckmark has it's own tricks to learn as well.

I had a Buckmark Camper and never felt compelled to strip it. This is second hand info but I have heard that you can crack the top plate by over-torquing the allen screws.

I have a Ruger, it's a wonderful pistol. It eats everything I feed it. It is a bit stiff to strip the first few times, but if you follow the directions and/or check out the youtube videos, it is not bad. Base your decision on what feels right to you when you hold the pistols for natural pointability and ease of controls use; better yet, if you can test fire them. Both are good.
