Officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry say two men have pleaded guilty and have been fined a total of $4000 for moose hunting offences.

Officials from the ministry said sometime between October 14 and 17 of 2015, two men from Navan and Oshawa, Ont. were hunting along Highway 105, north of Ear Falls, when the resident from Navan shot and killed a cow moose.

Police said the Navan resident made no effort to retrieve the moose and subsequently abandoned it, allowing its flesh to spoil.

He pleaded guilty and was fined $3000, according to a written statement on Monday.

Meanwhile, police said the man from Oshawa also pleaded guilty and was fined $1000 after he failed to immediately attach his cow moose seal to the moose.

Good...glad they got what they deserved. Anyone that abandons their harvest for any reason is a d-bag in my book. I don't know the details but I do know that the harvest is the goal of the hunt and should be one of the best parts. To not put in the effort to complete the entire hunt is good cause for charges and fines.

Where's the hunting ban to go along with this?

A moose tag is more rare then a gold nugget laying on a sidewalk and these idiots treated their tag like a piece of toilette paper.

A hunting ban of some duration should be an automatic/included penalty for many violations.

If they don't want to use the tag properly there are hundreds if not thousands of moose hunters who would.

Did they even have or need a tag?
