MOA adjustment for 308 velocity at 2600fps

Just wondering Ball park range setting my MK4 at 0 Moa at 100y haw many (ballpark) moas will I need to get to 1000y proper ajustment.
I think I have 42 Moa of adjustment, 300 yards is about 4.75-5 moa about for me
Sorry 178 Amax at 2620 fps avg.
My ballistics chart only shows me 500y

Using A BC of .54, MV2620, My program gives 39.2 min to 1000 yds with Vel. of 1182 fps remaining.

I guessed at the BC.

Wow! With crappy 150gr Core-lokt at 19$/box i would need like 184 comeups(without calculating my 20moa base) to reach 1kyds. I would only need 110 if i could push the lapua scenar 155 at 3000fps ( i gots a 26inch pipe).
 
Beyond 600yds, BC really matters. Drop is one thing which can be easily adjusted for. Windage is much harder to solve.

Just compare wind drifts at the same distance. Can you say FEEEEETTTTT.

The ballistic coefficient fir the 178 grain A-Max shows .495 on my Nightforce program.

I put in your data but I guessed at your scope distance above bore centerline. It does not make a huge difference anyway.

Nightforce says 5moa at 300 yards and 38.75moa at 1000 yards.

Oh yeah - 1214 fps remaining.
 
JasonYuke - What sort of gun are you firing those heavy A-Max bullets through and how do you like them. I have been thinking of trying 178 grains. I have shot a bunch of 168's through my Savage but am thinking of loading up some heavier ones just for kicks.
 
This is what I used for 168grain BTHP with 2600fps,

Range, 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 ( X 100 METER)
Incre , 0 , 2 , 3 , 3 , 4 , 4.5 , 5 , 6 , 7.5 , 8 (MOA)
Total , 0 , 2 , 5 , 8 ,12,16.5, 21.5, 27.5, 35 , 43 (MOA)

Not to speak for Jason but he shoots a Tikka T3 Tactical.

Or YARDS, if thee wind is blowling really well??!!:D

Coreloctss can not ebven begin to compare with Scenars, as one is a boat tail made for distance shooting, and the other is a hunting bullet!

Yep T-3 tik tac handles them very well with the 1:11 twist rate, likes all the bullets but the A-max the best very close to the same accuracy with the 168s smks but heck feed it what it wants!
Thanks for the infor guys looks like I am in good shape My MK-4 LT 0s almost perfect at 100 yards very low with the 308 dial, and the Moas run up to 43 I got one more click than I thought I had, looking farward to meeting some of you up at range (base Bord) if you shoot there, and thanks for the help!
I am excited to get out past 600 with it.

I know, but the difference is pretty stagering. More than i had thought it would be

for long range shooting, wich is best? a .508bc 155gr at 3000fps or say a .508bc 185gr at 2750fps for windrift?

At same bc. always choose the fastest!;)
 
So I am always hearing guys say its hard to shoot 308 at 1000y do to sub sonic loads but looking at the data this is not true and the 308 should infact shin at that distance as well, Now 1km is a different story I guess.

I've never worried about shooting my 308's at 1,000.
Most of the people I have talked to that have that opinion have never shot a properly set up .308 at long distance.
The may be some better calibers, but there are some far worse ones......!:eek:
