The dots size won't help the bouncing. If you have a cataract like I do the 3 MOA looks like a six anyways. For target work the smaller the better to a point. For plinking go with the larger dot.
I've used both and haven't found any significant difference. A 6 MOA dot will subtend less than 1.5" at 25m so as long as your aiming mark is bigger than that you should be fine.
