Moa vs mil

Hello,
I am new to long range distance and I am looking at purchasing a nightforce scope. I am looking to get some opinions on which system will be better for me (moa/mil). I work in yards/feet/inches. Math isn't my strongest thing so if one system uses less math that's probably better for me. Would it be good to mix a mil reticle with a moa system?
 
Don't mix your reticle and your turrets.

Neither Moa nor Mil are inherently better, if you think in feet and inches Moa, if you think in meters then Mil.

One other thing to consider is what anyone you are shooting with uses so you can communicate and call shots with the same system.

I prefer mils for long range...but either is fine if you spend time getting accustom to using it.

Absolutely do not mix moa and mils for your turrets and reticle. Unless you like pointless math. I dont even know why they make mixed unit scopes.
 
They're both angular measurements. Mil is a base 10 system where as MOA is in minutes (not inches like many think it really is).

Whatever you decide, make sure your reticle is matched to the turrets.
 
Just to be different

I'm not a " long distance shooter " but I do shoot at long distance (just for kicks) . My favorite scope has mil retical and moa turrets . I have a verified cheat sheet for turret settings up to 1000 yds for elevation and have gotten used to the mil retical for windage and rangeing ( a rangefinder works better ) I think No matter what system a guy uses it comes with practice . For hunting the retical is only to scale at one power on second focal plane scopes ( usually max ) on mine 12x (6-24 scope) . So to me the turrets and the retical only really match on a first focal plane scope anyway MOA or MIL
To me it seems the mil retical is way easier to make the math work for Rangeing
I also wonder why they make them different
