I agree but it says pitted bore with dings...too bad. I'd love a second barrel set....I dunno, if the barrel's bore is nice, the loose barrel is worth more than $75 in 16a. It's worth more as parts than as a gun IMHO.

Firing pin $45 action arm $60 misc. screws $25 ejector $20 extractor $20 that's about it for salable parts . Gun as is $50.00
MY god dude. Seems you may need a model 12 book also. I can recommend oneYou must collect some real bad model 12's if this is a good parts gun
Sorry to the OP and my apologies but it is a $50.00 gun max IMO
I didn't read the original post well enough - I missed that the bbl was trashed. My LGS sells nice model 12 bbl's for about $150 or so when they have them. Still, that gun is probably going to earn the most return if it's parted out.
A minor point - I didn't say it was worth $200. I said it was worth "under $200 for sure". Someone here said about $170 if parted out. That's kind of what I was thinking about - it's value as individual parts at a gun show.
I don't even own a model 12, but the way. I never really liked them. My pumps are all Ithaca 37's and Remington 870's. But I do see a lot of model 12's for sale.
Ya OK on the recovery. Slow down then and maybe one may even learn something. I know I do just about every day here and I have been around shotguns for over 50 years. That someone you refer to forgot more about model 12's than you and I will ever know so when he says 50 it is 50 to me.
What is there not to like about a model 12?? You don't own any but have a good handle on what they are worth.???
Ok I am confused with that one but that is ok.
The problem I see with parting this gun is the shipping will kill any deal one makes for the few items any good since they are small components, no wood, barrel etc. Canada post is not cheap any more to ship even the smallest items . Better to sell the gun complete IMO to someone who still works on them which is very few also. Most of us that have a 16ga model 12 have a mint or very good one in the stash and don't need parts
Cheers
It's not that I dislike the model 12 exactly, I just like other guns better. As a lefty, I really like the Ithaca bottom-eject offerings with their all-steel construction, trim-ness, light weight, etc. The model 12, to me, always just seemed like a hammerless model 97 (I know, the mechanisms vary greatly), and both the 12 and 97 seemed heavy and ergonomically harder for me than the 37 or 870. (as an aside, I just bought another 37, this one a 1970's factory mod fixed choke in 20 gauge in as-new condition. Very excited to get it out shooting)
I know a lot of people like the model 12's, I've just never warmed to them personally. I have no doubt the fellow who listed the parts values knows his stuff. The prices he quoted seemed reasonable. I make no claim to have a good handle on their worth, I just take note of how things are priced at the local shops. One of my friends runs a large used gun shop and I'm there regularly. Doesn't make me any sort of expert, just another guy on the internet offering a free opinionPrices tend to vary by region on a lot of guns as well, so to me, there are no hard and fast rules to govern how people think about gun values.
One thing I will say, many of these older gun models are beautifully designed and manufactured compared to a lot of what can be bought new today. If smithing labour were cheaper, it would be fantastic to see some of these old guns restored and used. But people seem intent on buying cheap disposable imports instead that have no parts support or real craftsmanship. Sad, really.
