mod choke and steel shot

I know, don't believe everything you read on the internet, but the following tidbit just made me wonder.
I read that the pardner single shot 12 gauge with modified choke should not be used with slugs or steel shot. This doesn't make sense to me though. Can anyone clarify?
Sorry if this is a bit of an ignorant question. Yup, I am new to this.

Where did you read that? If not in your manual check with H&R. I just shot 2 geese using #1 and BB steel through a modified choke. A regular RIFLED Slug should be good, but maybe not a saboted slug designed for a rifled barrel.

I read it on a some shotgun hunting forum when I googled recoil pads. I thought it was crap, but I also thought I'd check. Nope, it doesn't say anything like this in the manuel and the shotgun was made 40 years or so post lead ban. Thanks for the replies.

A modified choke is fine with steel shot of any size and foster style slugs. Do not use a saboted slug in any choke other then a rifled choke or a rifled barrel.
