Modded My TT33 Holster :D

As anyone who owns one will attest, the standard holster for the TT33, aside from being a historical piece, keeps it locked on your belt pretty solid but takes about 3.4 minutes to actually draw your sidearm from it. Not to mention it's about as big as a lunchbox on the hip.
I had one kicking about collecting dust and decided to try and make it functional. I know how much you milsurp guys hate people modding milsurp firearms (I do too :D) but this was a cheap $10 holster.
I cut it down drastically with an exacto knife. Removed the mag pouch, cleaning tool holders, the entire flap, cut out the back between the loops for an all around solid grasp on the pistol grip, split the side to make it draw more smoothly, I even punched new holes and stiched them epoxying the threads after for durability. I reinforced/doubled up a portion on the back with some of the leather left over from the flap using thermal bond epoxy. It made it much more rigid as well as making the draw even smoother.
It wears very comfortable, holds the TT33 surprisingly firm and most important actually makes for a very smooth fast draw!
I stayed with the Soviet doctrine of "to f**k with the aesthetics, make it work". Is it pretty? f**k no, but I think it looks way cooler than it did. Do I actually want to use and wear it on the range next time I go and do I like it a lot more now? Hell yes! :D

Thanks!
lol No no. I'm a fellow milsurp collector, Bubba is not my friend :D
You can buy these on e-bay unissued for $10 lol

I agree with you. Enjoy your toys, you only live once! And anyways... it's only Commie junque!!! :stirthepot2:

Some may not agree with you though....

I know they are cheap... just like Enfields and Mausers!! :D ..... oh wait.... ;)

Definitely a good idea for a TT33 if you want to use it for quick access/draw.

But then I am the guy who uses a P08 Luger for Service Pistol shoots... ask me how hard it is to quick draw out off a P08 Hard Shell Holster! :p

Those PO's are sweet guns Sir!
My TT33 is my one and only restricted gun and I shoot the hell out of her lol
She is no collection piece for me :D
Pretty much all my firearms are surplus but I shoot all of them on a regular basis.
But they are stock.
I cringe at some of the gun hack jobs I see on milsurps on these pages sometimes.
