I have a 10/22 that was made in 1988. Very nice gun. Has the odd safe kiss. What's it worth?

That model is going for 500$ brand new right now at Prophet River.

Quick sale at 350$. You might be able to squeeze 400$ out of it from a buyer who wants that exact type/model.

can't help but think how better off we were back in 1988
around 400'ish would be my guess all the original parts on it are of better overall quality

I sold one very similar, 1988 (though with a little bit more wear by the looks of it) for $320 a couple months ago with one mag. Had it listed for $400 but no bites.

I think the 10/22 market is fairly saturated right now, as Ruger has redesigned their 2026 production to include upgraded features; bolt hold, tighter barrel/receiver tolerances, rear clean out hole, BX trigger as standard etc etc.

The basic new models can be picked up for $400 new with all these features, meaning the older guns lacking these features are not quite so desirable, unless of course it’s something very special .

Have that same gun and know of a lot of others who do also. For what you can get, unless you really need the money, or truly don't ever want it, then keep it.

Remember this... "I can always remember the great cars, motorcycles, guns etc I owned, but I can never remember what I did with the money I got when I sold them. "
