Model 100 308 semi-auto jamming

I am interested in buying a model 100 308 semi auto but apparently the gun jams frequently when discharging the empty casing. Some one told me that the problem is because of the firing pin and that there are replacement firing pins available and once replaced the gun will operate great. Looking for some feed back to confirm if this is true.

There are a couple of things with these rifles-
The firing pin did have a recall due to peening of the firing pin and the possibility of it going "full auto" or firing without the bolt head fully engaged and rotated.
Extractors were an issue and some jamming is caused by a worn extractor. Make sure the chamber is cleaned and lightly oiled.
If the rifle has been well used, it is possible that the trigger group/magazine bars are bent from over-zealous removal of the mag without pulling back on the charging handle.
I'm with Scanner on the first thing being a good cleaning. Once it's apart, whoever is doing the cleaning can check to see if the firing pin has been repalced. The new ones have a flat portion on them and prevent the pin from rotating in the bolt unlike the original.

I have one and have noticed that they need meticoulos cleaning... The firing pins are quite easy to identify if they have been changed by looks as the replacement one is quite thick all the way up the shaft and the original is thin with a ring around it about 1/3rd of the way down... The full auto situation is due to return spring being week and in need of replacement... I would think that once it is fully taken apart and cleaned u will see the problem go away! I have seen these rifles after a week or two in the bush have the action very stiff to open and to close! My dad has one also and takes extremly ####ty care of it and its constantly hard to open or shut totally! Again i get it clean all the crap oughtta it and its good for another year of abuse by him... They are a great bush gun and great for minute of deer out to 250yds but they arent tack drivers at all! They suit there purpose well but if you want a 1 minute grouper i sugest you look elswhere... They also heat up the barrels quite quick! Good luck with whatever you decide!

I must have the exception ,as mine shoots only 150gr bullets well and yes MOA or better with Win 760/49gr I believe best check that one.If you don't let it slam shut during loading it will misfire.Firing pin was replaced with improved model and this didn;t happen "before the fix".Harold
