Model 11-87

Anyone using this shotgun and how do you like it? Model 11-87 Sportsman ShurShot Synthetic Turkey. Is it performing well?

i bought an 11-87 premier and liked it so much i got another 11-87 sportsman.

the only problem was with the sportsman. out of the box it had a machining burr on the inside of the reciever that would cause it to fail to chamber. a piece of 400 emery and 30 seconds of work solved that.

have about 2000 rounds through combined without anymore trouble.

Have you had any trouble with different ammo i.e. 2 3/4, 3, 3 1/2?

The 1187 , if kept clean, will cycle anything you want to put through it.Some need to be cleaned more than others, just like the 1100, wich is virtually the same gun as far as the gas operating system is concerned. I am a remington fan, so i'm bias.But for the money , their ain't many better or easier to work on.

Please forgive my ignorance... but is this a 3 1/2" model?
I was told that since the 11-87 went to the big magnum it's not as reliable.
No personal experience at all.

mine are only 3 inch models. they shoot everything from light 2.75 target loads to heavy 3 inch. no issues, every after a couple hundred rounds between cleanings.

Can't really ask for a more reliable gun than a Remmy! I've got a 20ga 1100 that has seen well over 6000 rounds and it has only jammed 3 times. I was using a teflon based dry-lube on the gun and it got gummy in the cold when I was skeet shooting causing it to jam. Other than that, those and the 11-87's are great work-horse semis IMO.

I've had an 11-87 Premier which I bought used and an 11-87 SPS model,both with 3" chambers.I've run everything from 2.75" target loads to 3" duck loads to rifled slugs through them with no issues.Seem to be good reliable guns imho. Cheers Bac4

No... sales people.
They don't recommend it if you're after a 3 1/2" gun.
They claimed there were too many warranty issues.
Hopefully you will give us a better story!

The only thing I notice about them is the weight. My brother has an 11-87 Premium Skeet and the damn thing feels at least a pound heavier than my Browning Gold 3.5". But it's a damned fine shotgun and I wouldn't hesitate to own on emyself.
