Hi,

After putting a hole the size of my fist through a coyote this year with the .30-06, I am thinking of going with a .223 for a coyote gun.

I like detachable mag guns, and the classic wood is nice. Thinking about the 11 GCNS from Savage as it is decently priced. So anyone have any opinions?

Savage makes great rifles. I use a stevens 200 22-250 loaded with hornady 60gr sp because wolves are quite common around here, but I'm sure you'll be happy with a 223 on coyotes. If you reload you'll be even happier due to the 1-9 twist allowing for a much wider variety of bullet wieghts compared to the 1-12 on my 22-250. I have the accu- trigger on my 17 hmr and I really like it but after putting a timney trigger on my 111 for under $150 I couldn't justify paying much more than that for the accu-trigger.
 
I bought a 223 gcns last year. Excellent accuracy to 300 meters with a 52 gr A-max and 25.5 gr of Varget (haven't shot beyond 300). The big plus is extra Magazines are around $40 -$45 and are available. The Accu-trigger for me is a plus.
 
I own a 204 and simple love it. I've had 2 and they were easy to find a load for because they shot eveything well. But like everyone said, if you arn't going to reload buy the 223 unless your not worried about buying ammo.
