I've got a new model 114 savage 7mm RM with a 9.5" twist rate sitting in the safe waiting for spring. What bullet weights have you fellas found works well in this pipe. My other 7's loved 140 gr but did not do very well with heavier weights.

I need to buy some more bullets but I'm cheap and want to cut down on the trial and error method.

A 9.5" twist should stabilize all weights up to and including 162 grains. The 175 may stibilize, but it may not, depending on length.
I have always felt that the 7mm RM was at it's best performance with a 160 grain bullet, but your results may differ.
Regards, Dave.

Try as many different bullets as you can, the practice you gain in shooting groups is never a bad thing. When i buy a new rifle i'll consider what bullet weights i want then try different brands even try some factory stuff to see how they perform and then have fire formed brass. I will likely be working with 140-160 grain bullets in my grandson's that i get to work up loads for.
