I purchased this from an online dealer last week and it arrived yesterday. I think I bought myself a time capsule. It was advertised as having the original box and there was the usual dealer style poor lighting photos.
I unpackaged the box the original box and gun were shipped in and was quite happily surprised at the almost new condition of the original box. I never expected when I opened the box to see the original warranty cards and a gun made 53 years ago that looks like it has probably had no more than a box or two of ammo fired through it. Yes it's a Y model but a very early one(1973) and the receiver looks for all the world to be one of the leftover forged receivers many of the early production Y guns received from leftover pre-64 stock. There is none of the plum hue in the bluing associated with the investment cast receivers.
I am anxious to try it out. I think it's time to organize a Model 12 shoot!

In comparison, I have a 1950 M12 with a 30" vent rib (the milled type) with full choke barrel. It has the standard figured comb in comparison to Spanks Monte Carlo comb. I presume it is a Trap grade but is not marked as such.
It will be fun to compare the two guns the next time we get together.

Bill I had the identical gun. They were a two-pin milled duckbill rib known as a "roughback. Yes it is a trap model but they were not always stamped as such. The wood on yours is absolutely stunning when compared to the one I had. Beautiful gun. We'll have to get them out together in the sunshine along with our 4E Knicks at AHEIA before the summer is out!

We have had model 12 shoot at our club for the last 5 ? years ,been great fun and the doubles especially. Nice find Spank and with the box as well. Collector friend of mine told me they are going for $500 just for the box. I had a Y model and sold it then found the box in my crawl space forgot it was there ,.Have a "real" 28 as well Bill came out of a collection in Calgary with a model 21 Trap. missed out on that one but got the 28g .Nice to see there are a few Diamonds still out there maybe one daay ...
