Got a model 12 in 16 gauge a few months ago, just took it out to try it.
The shell stop seems to be defective, when you push a shell into the mag. it just pops right back out.
Gun works fine single loaded. Is there a spring in behind the shell stop that may be weak and not forcing the stop out far enough to catch the rim of the shell in the magazine?
Nothing seems bent or broken. I'm new to the model 12. Anybody got any suggestions?

Could be the shell stop is bent. IIRC they are just spring steel, rather than a forging, so you may be able to bend it back. I am not a gunsmith, nor do I play one on TV or the internet, but that's a possibility.

I bought a mod 12 a few months ago and hadn't handled one in a while........I also thought there was an issue with the stop but the stop is just there to stop double feeds. The lifter acts as the stop for the shell that is "on deck"...

Try loading the magazine to capacity and then cycle and see if they all feed fine... I think maybe you are trying to fix something that may not be broken.

Thanks for the info. Never owned a model 12 before. This one is a delight to carry, glad it's not buggered up. It is a 1936 manufacture so is marked 2 3/4 inch chamber. It has a 26 inch modified barrel with a solid rib, a rather uncommon combo or so Im told. Really light and well balanced. Struff55; Thanks but i will hang onto it. HAHA.
