And I finally got one. It's a Uberti, but a Model 1873 none the less. It's chambered in .357 magnum and has the 24 inch octagon barrel. High polished bluing and a colour case hardened receiver and lever. This rifle is definitely a keeper.

This was the first 10 shots fired at 50 yards from a rest. Not bad, except for one flyer.

I have one as well, it’s a beautiful rifle for sure but nose heavy with the 24 inch barrel
20 inch barrel would balance out better I think

I like the longer barrel. I probably would have bought one in 26 inch if there was one available. I think the rifle just looks and feels better with the longer barrel. But that's just my opinion.

Savage112 I went to my local gun store last week to purchase a few boxes of ammo and I noticed a Uberti 1873 in 357 on the shelf. The sales rep indicated that they just received it that morning. After handling it I had to purchase it.

The action sold me. Its super smooth. Congratulation's on your purchase and thanks for sharing.

I have one of the newer Winchester 73's, in 45 Colt. Everytime I use it I feel like Jimmy Stewart. - dan

I have one here as well but on a receiver from the 1880s that someone decided to put on a new barrel in 45lc... (and accompanying guts) It is ridiculously heavy compared to a modern lever in 45lc but that's a part of the fun...

Yes, I don't think it ways much less than an 1886 or 1895. Makes for zero recoil though. - dan

Hangs really nice for offhand shooting as well. The original Winchester levers pretty much all had weight out front. They were shot primarily offhand for hunting and dispatching bad people so the muzzle heavy feel helped with steady holding.

I had fun with my Win/Miroku '73 in .357 some yrs back. I ran 'er with 158 gr hardcast at moderate velocities and pressures. Slick action fer sure,
but not a strong action due to the toggle link design. The best cartridge to use fer me in the '73 is the one it was designed for...The 44-40 using loads
running at black powder pressures or a smidge above to ensure long life & reliability of the action.

Yep, nice rifles. I have two of the Uberti 1873 clones. One in .357mag/.38spl, and the other in .45 Colt. These are 20” barrelled.
