A friend has one in extremely good shape. Made in 1902, in 30-30, with 26 inch barrel & half magazine. How do I determine how to grade it for him. The blueing is so good I would think it was reblued , but the case hardening is nearly mint. there are a few very small rust spots on barrell but thats it. It has an early side mount Lyman peep sight as well. Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks, Brian.

If the colour case is nearly mint chances are it's original. Most guys simply reblue the whole gun if the finish is worn. The Lyman receiver sight is a killer for collector value though as Marlins were not factory drilled and tapped at that point in time for one.
