Just bought a 1986 model 94 and I noticed the extractor cut appears severly chipped out and rough around the barrel hole. Is this common? Should I be worried about shooting it? Haven't got shells yet but doesn't look right. Any advice? New to lever guns.

Get a gunsmith to deburr the edge. Or, if you have a steady hand and a needle file, diy. Light touch. Not a safety issue.

Got a handful of shells from a friend to try yesterday (waiting on getting ammo as it is tough to find around here). First round cycles in well and shoots fine. Bullet ejects fine, however, the second shell hangs up on the cycle appearing to catch that burr. Odd that the first shell does not do that...

This can happen easily enough, don't be afraid to LIGHTLY polish off the burr. In my experience, I have had great success with a Dremel stone glued into a stick of some sort for a handle. Not recommending a Dremel tool, just one of the stones for it with a 1/8" shank.

OP,
It's a WINNY
Hold the WINNY perfectly level to cycle the gun...or you will have feed/cycle issues.

If you are beyond Red/Green handy & mechanically inclined-

Depending on how much of a burr the extractor pushed/rolled into the chamber-

As mentioned a #4 or #6 swiss pattern needle file followed by a fine CRATEX wheel will fix the issue in less than 5 minutes.

IF you are an experienced DDS-dentist a rotary burr or stone will accomplish the task also.
