Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone has one of these guns, or has shot or saw one??
I am thinking of buying one.
Model 629 .44 Magnum Hunter out of their custom shop.

THX

Beautiful piece. If your wondering if they are worth the price, I would say any performance center gun is worth it. The action come out very smooth and the triggers are as crisp as you can get them.

It will be a decent gun like all the 629s. I boils down to aesthetics and features basically v additional cost

What is the application?
Full power 44 mag rounds have little application in most disciplines. Plinking with full power 44 mag rounds gets tiring fast.
Hunting with a 44mag revolver is not allowed.
I'm thinking that you might be better off with a very nice 3rd generation Colt Single Action Army (SAA) New Frontier in .44 special.

hatman, your provincialism is showing. Hunting with a .44 revolver is allowed in many jurisdictions, just not in Canada. OP may well take a trip to many of our southern neighbours, and pop Bambi, exotic game, Blackie, hogs, and vermin with a revolver. Owning one, developing a good load, and practicing until handgun hunting is not simply a stunt sounds like a sensible thing to do.

And, if I remember correctly, the IHMSA or NRA has a classification for Sporting Revolver, straight-walled cases, optic sights, the S&W would be right up that alley, although I don't know if Custom Shop guns make the "Production:" criteria. As one who used to shoot 40 round Revolver, 40 round Standing, 40 round Unlimited, "plinking" with full house loads can be addictive!

Shooting javelin silhouettes at 100 meters standing with a .44 is a most rewarding experience. Chickens are almost a given, turkeys, not so much, but when a ram topples at 200 meters in a wind so strong you have to hold one critter up-wind, and time your shot so you are not being blown off balance, you actually start to learn about pistol craft. Everyone should own a .44!

and a 10" 44 mag has to be shot to REALLY appreciate the round. For those that think it has too much recoil "do some REAL work" and get in shape. Of course 44 mag out of my 1894 Carbine with 24.5 H110 is monster!!! But much easier to shoot in the 6.5" revolver
