Been lurking and learning a lot here, time to start posting! I have a Rem model seven that feeds nice and smooth until you feed the last round in the mag. That last one seems to feed at a harsher angle and takes more pressure on the bolt to close it. Is this problem common to the mod 7 ? Is there a way to fix it? Any insight would be appreciated.

Have you had the stock off the rifle? The magazine box can be finicky sometimes and needs to be seated properly against the action. Quite often this is the cause of feeding issues in 7's and 700's...

Just had the stock off and reassembled it carefully ( easy to pinch the mag well in this one ) so the mag well is properly seated and has a millimeter or two of play.

What cartridge is it?

Does the action actually bind, or does it just take a little extra effort to close the bolt?
