I just picked up a Model 7 predator in .223
Are there any places in Canada to buy a magazine conversion kit?
I've seen some for sale on in the US. What is the difference between AR and AICS?

AR = Armalite Rifle? AICS = Accuracy International Chassis System. Two different patterns of magazines.

Yes. The AICS magazine will accept longer .223 cartridges than the AR magazine will accept. The AICS magazine foot print is for .308 length cartridges. The .223 version magazine incorporates filler to suit the shorter .223 round, but will still accept cartridges with heavier bullets seated out.
AR magazines are more available and less expensive than AICS pattern magazines. I say AICS pattern because magazines are made by other than AICS.
Don't know about the 7, but my standard 700 receiver would not accept AR magazines in the PT&G bottom metal without milling operation to the bottom of the receiver. Others have reported differently.
Looking at the PT&G bottom metal @US$129? Looking for a Cdn business that has already imported them? Can't help there, but PT&G has sold different bottom metals direct to me.

That's good to hear because it's their kits I was looking at . I'll contact them to find out.

Not trying to criticize but why the desire for an aftermarket bottom metal and magazine system? In my opinion those model 7 predators are a fantastic handling and carrying rifle in factory form. I believe it likely has either a 1-12 or 1-9 twist barrel, so its not likely to stabilize 70+ grain bullets that will need to be seated longer than factory magazine length.
At the end of the day it is yours to with as you will and that is what you should do, I just dislike long protruding magazines where I like to hold a rifle.

Normally I wouldn't want a magazine on a rifle but with a varmint rifle I prefer it. I've found that this rifle doesn't like to be single fed by throwing a cartridge on top of the follower. A magazine may be a better option on this case.
