Model 7 or Husqvarna

The 4100, the 1600 and model 7 cdl (6.5 lbs) would be pretty much similar as lightest among ones you mention. They should all have 20 inch barrels.Earlier model sevens came with 18.5 inch barrels. The 1640 normally has a 22 inch barrel. The 1600 is similar to the 4100 . The 4100 has forearm checkering, while the 1600 usually does not. The Remington will have a better trigger. The 4100 rifles look great....have had a few, but could not get the triggers right for me, so ended up selling them.

It's difficult to beat a model 7 for weight and compactness. Also easy to make lighter if you like. Indeed, excellent bush gun.

That's almost right... But the 1640 have 23.622" (600mm) barrel, but only the "Husky" or "H-5000" have a 22" (560mm) barrel.
The 1600/4000/4100/450 have, indeed à 20.47" (520mm) barrel of lighter profile than the 1640.

Thank you Baribal.......was thinking of you when I wrote those barrel lengths down. I knew that you would have the precise figures in your memory bank.

Husqvarna hands down. Years ago I went to Le Baron to buy my first rifle and wanted a Remington Model 700. They did not have one in 30-06 so the guy behind the counter showed me a Carl Gustaf in 30-06. No comparison.

I think the Husqvarnas handle better. I'd take better handling any day over a bit of extra weight.

Furthermore, there's no use buying a lightweight rifle and topping it with a huge scope.

Not only are the Husqvarna rifles lighter, but they handle full-size cartridges like the 270 Winchester, 30-06, 7mm Rem and 300 Win magnums, and the great 358 Norma Magnum, as well as the shorter cartridges.
