Model 7 or winchester 70 fwt any sugestion !

I have a compact Ruger .308 and it kicks like a mule and not that accurate tryed 10 different factory ammo weights brands and best is 13/4 groups

The Winnie FWT is a fondler especially for all the time I'm parked in the deer stand waiting. Shooting? It's way more accurate than I can hold it. I swapped out the beautiful walnut stock for factory plastic AND a Bell & Carlson stock. Now I can go and play in the woods (and fall down, and scratch the rig, and trip on branches, and walk into trees in low light).

I like fondling Winnies (Model 70's) even if I have 3 Remmy 700's all dressed up to compete...

Whatever you select, ensure it works for your: cool factor, game, budget, optics, gun case, truck brand, ego, friend's choices.

And finally a word from the teacher....

Never give in to peer pressure until your friends tell YOU to do so.... :nest:

Cheers,

Barney

Also worth considering, if you're buying for your wife, does the rifle fit her? You may need to adjust the LOP as most wives aren't 6' tall like mine. also, how much does she shoot? In a light rifle I would stay away from an '06 unless she shoots a lot. The increase in power will give a corresponding increase in recoil that will put less experienced shooters off their feed.
