Model 7 reviews?

Model 7
This is a older Model 7 in .308 just plainly the best gun I have owned, smooth action, like in butter and shoots great,and weighs 6.5lbs all in as seen in photo.
If I was buying a new one I think I would go with 7mm/08 or wsm

a Model Seven is sort of a cross between a 600 and a 700 short action....and is a GREAT improvement over the 600/660......they make nice light weight rifles....I've lost track of how many I've owned....maybe 10 or so...I'm thinking of building a 350 Rem Mag on one....

I've had two Model 7's. One in .308 Win [sold to a fellow CGN'er who had it rebarreled to .358 Win] and a .223 that I still have [I had it rebarreled with a 24" factory barrel off a Model 700]. I love my .223 Rem 7...
Oh, and as for a review on the Model Seven... I bought a Seven CDL in .243 as a 'wife' rifle earlier this year. During load development I very quickly discovered that it's one of the most accurate sporter rifles I've ever fired, and told wife she'd have to make do with the .257 Roberts for one more year;-)
The Seven (especially the Seven CDL) is one handy, lovely, beautifully made and accurate rifle. I think it puts the 700 to shame.

I don't know the details of the model seven action vs. the 700SA, but Remington literature seems to indicate that it's a (at least subtly) different action. The 700 CDLs are gorgeous, beautifully made, but I've found that--at least the two I've owned--are only 'serviceably' accurate. They seem to be hunting rifles, and shoot to the ability of most 'one box a year' hunters. And that was after glass bedding and tailoring handloads to the rifles. Not great.
I admittedly only own one model seven CDL, but out of the box it shot better than I'll ever be able to. Now with some tuning up and handloads its almost to the point where it's automatic. If I were just a _tiny_ bit more of a gunnut I'd sell it because it doesn't need me to baby it;-)
Rifles aren't all the same of course, ymmv...
