Model 7, Short Action 700, Long Action 700 WEIGHTS

I had an inquiry and thought I would post this info for all to see...

Specification differences between the Model 7, the short action 700, and the long action 700 - all with no bottom metal.

I had two .223 Remington rifles apart (700 and Model 7) and a 30-06 and I thought I would weigh and post this for those who may be interested.

Model 7 action & trigger weighed 435.5 grams. (15.4 ounces)
The bolt weighed 334.2 grams. (11.8 ounces)
The recoil lug weighed 22.7 grams. (.8 ounces)
The two action screws weighed 12 grams. (.4 ounces)
Total of the above components – 804.4 grams. (28.4 ounces)
The two action screw holes measured 5.875 inches center to center.

Remington 700 short action & trigger weighed 493 grams. (17.4 ounces)
The bolt weighed 357.8 grams. (12.6 ounces)
The recoil lug weighed 21.6 grams. (.8 ounces)
The two action screws weighed 16.6 grams. (.6 ounces)
Total of the above components – 889 grams. (31.4 ounces)
The two action screw holes measured 6.5 inches center to center.
The bolt measured approximately .500 of an inch longer than the Model 7 bolt.

Remington 700 long action & trigger weighed 506.5 grams. (17.87 ounces)
The bolt weighed 383 grams (13.51 ounces)
The recoil lug weighed 21.6 grams. (.8 ounces)
The two action screws weighed 16.6 grams. (.6 ounces)
Total of the above components – 927.7 grams. (32.72 ounces)
The two action screw holes measured 7.3125 inches center to center.
The bolt measured approximately .875 of an inch longer than the short 700 bolt.
