Model 7 vs 700 for donor action.

Model 7 is shorter, primarily at the rear of the receiver, of course. Barrel shank specs are the same. I would expect QC is the same.

As previously said there is no difference in quality from the factory and either can be accurized and made to shoot very well.. personally I would prefer a 700 action... more stock and magazine options... probably more resale value too.

Trigger mechanism, trigger geometry are different, Model 7 vs the 600 series. Don't know if the Model 7 receiver has the same bedding surfaces as the 600.

You're going to rip apart a niche market rifle for a custom target rifle. As has been pointed out, the mainstream model has ALL the choices for parts, services and gunsmith knowledge. Stick with a short action 700, and you won't have to explain anything to anyone.

Got a 700 SPS SS on the way :D

I have been using the XR Single shot actions in my 2 other F-Class rigs and will now try a 700.

Best way to convert to single shot? Are there tight tolerance aftermarket parts to glue in?
