Not a big fan of the whats it worth threads but I could use some help from some of you win 70 savvy fella's with this one.

Its a model 70 serial #2759xx in 300 holland and holland magnum, stock has been refinished with aftermarket pad, not much checkering left. The barrel has been re blued, rear sight is missing and dovetail filler installed, triggerguard blueing is pretty much worn off and the safety is non functional. Barrel appears to be ok however with all of the dust in there its hard to see much. There are almost 60 live rounds and some brass that goes with it.

first question of course is what would something like this be worth ? second question is why when the new SC rifles are on line are these pre 64's so sought after or are they ?

I guess I should clarify that I'm considering making an offer on this rifle

I've got one in better condition (not refinished) and with the sight and original pad. You couldn't get it off me for less than $1800. with the wear, missing parts and damage yours is almost to the point of being a donor. Someone might give you a Grand, but I doubt it. Probably looking at more like $850.

It's worth what someone will pay....and they are strange those 300's, they seem to hold their value. I bought one last year, sounds like better shape then yours, but definatly a "shooter" and I payed 850....so your's sounds like a 650-700$ gun and at that price, lots of people will buy it just for the action. Funny thing about those pre'64 300's, even in rough shape the damn things will still put 3 rounds in an inch after you clean it up.
