Can a Model 70 CRF Featherweight .30-06 be rebarreled to .338WinMag? Is the bolt face large enough to open up to accept the belted case?

Yes.... and the extractor can be altered as well...

But will the magazine work? Probably not without alterations ...

It would be an easy rebarrel and no alterations to .338-06.... and it would hold more in the magazine than a magnum.

your not giving much up going with the 338 06. 2700 fps with a 225 grn is pretty good power. noticable differnce in recoil over a 338 mag. to me the 338 06 is more in the 30 06 class of recoil.

Just slap a 338-06 barrel on that thing and go hunting!

There is NO practical difference between the 338 WM and the 338-06 when out hunting. I know I sold my 338 Magnum less than a year after I had my 338-06 put together and have not missed it a bit.

I'd sell my .338 Ruger in a New York minute if I came across that sweet Husky (or is it a BSA?) of your's Gary I'm kinda slacking off as I forget to bring that M70 .30-06 to Corlane's for the rebarrel job the last couple times I've been in Dawson We're planning on going there next week so I'm just trying to figure out some last minute ideas before I commit to the cartridge.
