model 700 cdl vs model 70 featherweight

I personally own a Pre 64 modle 70 in 270 ... unreal gun. I also have a full custom Rem 700 XCR that is my go to rifle. The newest Gen of Win's i believe are designed around the pre64. I have to say the new Wins seem like a lot of quality gun for for the money. Great alluminum bedded stock , believe there free floated , classic Win action , Hearing good things about accuracy. I definatly couldnt fault you for buying one. Im sure you would be happier that Hommer on a Donut if you picked one up... I just have a sweet spot in my heart for those CDL's. Which ever route you take i think your gonna be happy, Good Luck ! :)

I shoot a short(er) barrel A-bolt 25-06 and if I were to do it over again I would choose a rifle with a longer barrel. I believe the Model 70 FWT still has the 22" barrel option. My choice would be the CDL.

PS. Browning actually increased the barrel length to 24" (in 25-06 only, all other std LA cartridges remained 22") some years after I bought mine, obviously recognizing that powder burn efficiency and/or muzzle blast were issues worth re-addressing. Still applies to X-bolt.
