$650+ $100 for the extra mag is a fair price that should sell quickly to anyone that knows what a jewel these rifles are. Just don't EVER take the action apart.

I see most of the .308's advertised in that $600-$700 range. What they actually sell for is something else. I bought mine for around $600 shipped, as it had been BTT'd several times at $650. The extra mag is another $100

After trying to sell a similar one this spring, I’d say if you listed it for $800 you’ll be waiting along time. If you price it at $600 it’ll sell in a month or so.
I think being a .308 is not a selling point, there are lots. Also pre 64 seems not to demand a premium like some other models

Pre 64 is only relevant to Winchester Model 70 bolt action rifles. That is when Winchester went cheapo and changed the action on the Model 70. Did away with controlled-round feeding and what not.

What you go'in awn 'bout Willis?
Need more info.

Ron Smith in Wimborne, rebore to 358 winchester, run aboot $425-475, get it cut with a gain twist rifling (rifling twist increases towards bore) that be the kitties mitties.

Thinkin bout it for my 1899 C .308, Ron rebored my 30-06 to 9.3x62 (steyr) and his son put the carbon six pipe on my 788, threaded muzzle and crown, both under $450 I think.

Cool dirty old shop he's got, Im very privileged to say I've gotten a tour of his machines.

Yes. What sort of $$ we talking for a project like this? I've already got the dies, and if these rifles can be had for $600ish this might be a good way to get one... I really want a 358win...

Im double posting, but about $425-475 to rebore and rifle, good fun for a winny 88 or a savage 99, or other short bolt actions. The 600/660/788 would be candidates as well.

Edit: "Metker" in the EE has one for sale done by Ron, posted for $1300, maybe ask him what he thinks of it. Should be a nice handling quick loading rifle.
