Model 94 3030 has arrived ! A couple newbie questions !

I had a Sioux Carbine when I was 13 and it didn't need a recoil pad, I doubt this one will either.

Shoot it.
You bought it with the intention of shooting it. (I'm not a collector and have no "enjoyment" from buying guns and storing them). If you want it to be a safe queen, go buy a used 30-30 and shoot it. As to a recoil pad, forggeettt about it. It's a 30-30 it has a real mild "kick". I can shoot mine all day without feeling the effects in my shoulder.

350's not a bad price... from the pcitures there is minor imperfection in the engraving.. COuld just be handling marks and it needs a polish.. But oil it lightly and sell it or shoot it... If you bought it to shoot it don't let the value freak you out.. It's like the guys who buy a harley and don't drive it becuase they have too much in it.. if you buy it to use it use it.. All guns loose value as soon as it's shot... 30-30 is probably the most versatile caliber going hence the reason it's still around after 120 years...

I collect Winchester 94s

You got a good deal. At gun auctions they are going for about 400-600 unfired. But to the right collector who needs that model in unfired condition it may be worth more.

In my opinion I like the collectors editions because they look cool not because of their value. I would leave that one in the box as they are going to go up in value as Winchester Model 94's are not being made anymore since Winchester plant is now gone.

I would squeeze another 200-250 out of your wallet and buy a regular M94 ranger (used) to hunt and shoot.

Just my .02
