Hi all a freind asked me to look at his model 94 i checked the serial number is was made in 1902 and it has been used alot since then the slide is loose in the receiver almost no blue left etc.. to me it looks like it probably just needs a firing pin but I am wondering if its worth fixing or should he just keep it as a Heirloom it is a 30wcf which i just googled and found out is the same a a 30-30 or is it ? Should i put a pin in it or tell him to put it on the wall or send him to a gunsmith?

No such thing as a Winchester not worth fixing and yes, 30WCF is what Winchester used to call 30-30. Just like they called the 44-40, 44WCF. And likely a few more.

If the action is badly worn also take out the screw on the left side that lines up with a small hole on the right side to determine if the pin that retains the firing pin STILL lines up with the holes for removal! If the wear is that bad it may not be worth the effort to change the firing pin. Been there, done that on a 1904 built 38-55. Kayceel
