Hey I'm looking at a model 94 that has a side scope mount on it and I'm just wondering what the mount would be worth? I'm not a scope on a lever person so I have use for it so I'm trying to justify the extra cost as the gun is in very nice shape.

Thanks

Best thing to do would be make an offer on what the rifle is worth alone. Unless the scope is high end, like Leupold or better, I don't factor in the scope as part of the selling price. Also, some of those mounts replaced factory screws in the action, others required drilling and tapping. If the action has extra holes factor that into your offer. If the mount used existing holes, you'll have to find replacement screws unless the owner has them stored in a box somewhere.

The blueing will probably be worn under the mount and a foot print of said mount too.
The mount is worth less than the devaluation it left behind.
Consider your offer carefully.

If i am looking to buy a 94 with a side mount I consider the rifle to be bare. The side mount and scope are generally worth very little. And if the Winchester is a pre 64 rifle the drilling and tapping for the side mount have knocked a couple hundred bucks off the rifle's value at least.
