I recently purchased a Model 94 in .357 Mag. in very good shape. However I have a problem with shells slipping under the Mag follower and jamming. Any ideas?
Thanks Bob
I had the same problem on mine. There's a fairly large part on the bottom of the receiver which should have a little triangular protudence on the front face (I think Part 294X on an exploded diagram). This small piece broke off and the whole part had to be replaced (about $60). The part is pinned to the action so I had a gunsmith replace it, seeing as I'm being pretty much of a klutz with tools.
There are a lot more knowlegible 94 guys on this forum that may have better solutions but you should be able to see if the part is broken when you open the action.
It sounds like the link is worn . there is a finger on the forward end of the link that holds the carts in the tube. When you cycle the lever this link drops and allows the next shell into the action and then returns to hold the second shell from entering. This finger is either worn down or broken off. It can be built up again by a gunsmith or a replacement link installed.
I realize I need to cycle fast, and I see what needs to hold the shell in the tube, may be worn , should it protude far up against the shell? Minne seems to be just a small way up
It's not a big piece of metal. I know of one guy that (machinist) welded on a bit more to solve a similar issue. Picture courtesy of steve's pages *ttp://stevespages.com/ipb-winchester-94.html
Ok, I've tried to post the picture several times, but it's being blocked. You will have to visit the page
Item 33 in the picture above, the metal bit is quite visible, just above the pin hole for item 34. The one in the picture is VERY VERY different from ANY of mine, and mine are considerably smaller, and shaped differently.
Hello Sir.I had the same problem with my post 64 model 94 in 30/30.I change the part called the link.I posted on the EE and the members came thru. Before I installed it I compared the two and mine was rounded off pretty good.Put it back together and it works fine.
what kinid of ammo are you shooting through your gun. had a friend that was trying to shoot federal match flat point 38 spl in his gun, no dice, described what happened as the same type of scenario. he switched bullets no problems and i inherited 15 boxes to put through my revolver.
