model 94 with 2 gold parts, case hardend, scroll work?

Came across this Winchester and don't know what to make of it. It's a carbine. Has gold saddle ring and gold loading port. Looks to be case hardend and bit of scroll work. Said to be made in 1973 by the serial number. Has anyone came across these or remember them? I assume it should be worth more than a standard 94 but the markets funny on some stuff. I'm considering trading something worth $600 but don't want to end up with a $350 30-30

 
Being a 73 model I'd say its probably worth around the $600.00 for all the work that has been done it. But I think it will only interest a certain group of buyers.
 
From what little we can see of it, and taking into account that 1973 is one of the poorer quality years for a Winchester 94, I would say it is a $400 shooter.
 
There is no 1973 vintage Model 94 in the world worth $600. It's a shooter, pure and simple and only desirable as such. Even the $400 H4831 talks about is a top end price. You could get a Pre64 for the $600 price. A nice one.

.. It's a standard production, and fairly common, Winchester Mdl.94 "Antique", and as such, worth about the same as a less fancy version of the same year. The "peep sight',( And probably it could be easily removed, and screws replaced if so desired, with no trace remaining ) is useful in a practical terms, as it's a shooter. .. David K

Some people insist on spending gobs of money on commemoratives...especially the RCMP commemoratives.

PS If my wife ever asks any of you if she should buy me an RCMP commemorative and you tell her yes I'll be REALLY upset with you.
 
They pop up @ my gunsmiths from time to time.....most of the guys shake their heads and laugh at them. I especially like the Annie Oakley gun!......I thought the RCMP was ridiculous....until I saw this baby :)
 
I would think this would be a bad investment.
The peep sight has a wee bit of valve in the EE as there seems
to be a demand for them, but it sure won't make up the difference
to the $600 point.
Now it the barrel length was in the Trapper length, hmmmmmmmmm..........
