Need a little help guys with what I have here. Model 98 in .308, Brno armory re-furbish(?) The scuttlebutt on this one is that it actually was used by the Israeli forces at some point. There are some armory marks to possibly validate this, any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Post war Czech build, sold to Israel. At some point (date should be stamped on the barrel) it was rebarreled by the Israeli's to 7.62x51.

These make excellent shooters.

The post war Czech K98k is about the cheapest way to get a high quality 98 mauser. These were produced on the same machinery and by many of the same people as wartime manufactured German/Czech built K98k's. The DOU 45 is the code for Waffenwerke Bysterika in Czechoslovakia, home of DOU code German K98's. The other(main) Czech facility was Waffenwerke Bruen(Brno) and marked their rifles DOT AND SWP. Both are fine rifles, the equal of German produced K98k's in my opinion.

Thanks a lot, guys. Learn something new every day.

Is there any difference in value from a regular 8mm or is it still worth in the $500 range? The previous owner said there was a bit of significance in regard to the Israeli end, but I guess unless I remove the stock and find Ben Gurion's hand carved signature then I would presume the only desire is in its .308 caliber.

Still worth around the same but who knows? At one time you could buy a matching number German K98k for $79. As supply diminishes prices will climb. If you want a shooter the 7.62 is much easier and cheaper to feed.
