Hi All,
Was at a swap meet this morning and picked up a BYF 44. The bolt matches the action, the bottom metal and the stock are non matching (no idea what the stock is off, looks pretty bad). The bore on it is very nice and the blueing on the barrel is very good, not so much on the action. I don't know much about mausers but from what I've read 1944 was the highest year of production. I looked at some pictures on the internet and most of them looked pretty rough. The machining on this one looks pretty good. I'm thinking it may be an early 44, the serial number is 4 digit and it looks like there is a C after it. The waffenmark stamp is 135.
Here are some pictures: http://imgur.com/a/z6C8x
I know next to nothing about Mausers and would be interested to know more, I'd especially like to know what would be appropriate for a stock on this?
Thanks
