Model seven in .350 rem mag...

As compared to what, a long action?

I think he means compared to say a Ruger MKII in 350.
Apparently the mag box is quite short and the heavies are problematic in the Model Seven.

This doesn't concern me, I'd be more than happy 'slingin a 200gr premium .358 diameter bullet at 2700-2800FPS.

Same as a short action 700. I haven't measured a MKII short mag action, it'd be interesting to see what it measures in at

Ask Bartell about the 350 with TAC and 200gr TTSX's. 300 Win Mag velocities and flat to 400yds with that .358 face value.

I believe if you call Lethbridge WSS Jim still has one on the rack. (the CDL version)

You have no idea what you are against. I shot friends Rem mod 600(?) with 18,5" barrel and factory ammo 15 years or so ago.... and that thing was having very, very nasty recoil ! My humble advice is; settle for 358Win instead and no shorter than 20" barrel....

The new mod 7 is nothing at all like the old Mohawk 600/660 to shoot. Much better stock design, excellent recoil pad and 20" barrel all make huge difference from old 350's they WERE a bear to shoot, had 2 over the years U-U-U-UGLY !!!!

I would put recoil equiv with 180 gn '06, my son also has one of these in a Ruger 77 RSI (very comparable rifle), blind folded you'd be hard pressed to tell them apart from recoil.

I have a stainless/laminate M7 in 350RM. I dont think the recoil is near as bad as guys are making out. I dont use it as much as I should, but it serves its purpose.

I've noticed those around, and they look like a nice little rifle.
Seems when they do pop-up for sale that they command a pretty high price.
IIRC some of the ones I've seen are in the realm of a used custom-rifle price wise.

One on the EE couple years ago that the guy was asking $900. I had one in 7-08 I sold for less than new price, $1000 IIRC. From what I've seen, expect to pay $900-$1100.

350 effectiveness

The 350 performs all out of proportion to it's appearance. It is an amazing killer.I load 225 accubonds BUT I cut the plastic tips off flush at the jacket, seat to magazine max and with IMR 3031 I get 2900 fps with them (through my 35P) I took a black bear at virtually point blank range in the butt as he whirled to exit and got over 4' of penetration with this load. The bear went instantly limp, game over! I would have no qualms thumping a grizzly with this little package, and I find it is more and more becoming my companion on more and more outings.

I find most of the critsizms of the 350 come from people who have never owned or hunted with one. It's one of those "try it you'll fall in love with it cartridges",
I used to think the same (ho-hum) 'til I bought (actually traded for) one, hunted and killed some critters with it. Now I sing it's praise every chance I get.

I looked into the 350 rem mag in a model 7 a couple years ago. My goal was to run the 225 tsx at 2700 fps. The data at the time didn't make this possible as the short action and the longer monometals didn't allow for enough powder in the cartridge to get that velocity. I went with the 35 whelen instead. Not sure what your plans are but the model 7 really doesn't have a lot of room.

I have both a 350 RM and a 35 Wh built on the same model of rifle. There isn't 35 fps between them with the bullets I use. If you find the mag box of the Rem's too short, there are longer ones available or you can modify the one that is there, it's not hard to do. - dan

:agree: Nothing ill-mannered about a 7 CDL in .350 at all. Mine shoots 200gr TSX's so well I gave up on developing a 225-250gr load.

WHOOOOO!

Looks like I've joined the coveted ranks.
A fine fellow CGN'er has set me up with a CDL complete with a bunch of brass and a set of dies.
Thanks to all who PM'ed me with offers and those who posted with sightings.
I'm excited!...just like Ric Flair...seriously cou:

Yes you do!:D I picked up a Ruger Mk II .350 last fall,I'll work up some loads before spring bear,I hope. Cheers,Mur
:D Quit makin' sense Murray. I think the .350 RM would make an ideal rambling rifle for the open hardwoods, and selectively cut wood lots we have here!

Dirty bugger! Congrats. Now you have to fix an innacurrate Kimber AND an innaccurate Remington :p

I picked up a stainless Ruger, set the barrel to 19", went to the range with a box of 200 gr factory loads, and proceeded to shoot 2" groups, at 200 yds! Over and over. Only other change was a trigger job and a Limbsaver recoil pad. Otherwise this rascal is not bad to shoot at all. Going to try some 200gr Barnes ### in her this spring.

That's really all the Ruger needs. The CGNer I got mine from knows his .350s,he put in a Rifle Basix trigger and added a Limbsaver.Voila..Ready to go! I am thinking about a McSwirly for it though.....Mur

That SAUM you have would make a sweet one.... :) Thats how mine started.

I thought of it briefly, but how cool would a 3 gun battery of a .223 Montana, 7 SAUM M7 and .350 RM M7 be????
Good luck Archie.
I kept repeating the exact same line over and over in my head...didn't seem to do sh$t for me! :p

I've been looking at the 350 RM for a while now...suppose I'll just have to TICKLE MY FANCY....

Not right now though...I'm ####in broke :D
