I recently acquired a Model Seven in .204 and am finding the bolt is very hard to close with factory ammo as well as hand loads. Any reason why this is? Any solution?

Cheers!!

if it is scoped, check your base screws. often they are too long and touch the bolt on closing. take them out and try it.

You might also take a tooth brush to the lug recesses in the action sometimes in a new rifle there is crud and grease in them reducing your headspace. I use brakeclean and spray these areas real well then brush the snot out of them then spray them real good again and then blow dry with compressor. I usually remove from stock first.

X2 on Breakclean, a stream of this stuff is very effective a degreasing hard to reach spots. It might be useful to put a touch of a light, high quality grease on the bearing surface of the locking lugs after they've been degreased.
