The bolt of the M-7 is shorter than the bolt of a M-700 SA. If both bolts are placed side by side, the M-7 bolt comes to the rear of the locking lugs of the M-700. If you have both rifles, the M-700 can more easily eject rounds loaded longer. Both my M-700 (.308) and M-7 (.243) are custom rifles. The M-700 has been converted to a single shot, and I seat the bullets for the M-7 long, so it is loaded as a single shot as well. I removed the plunger from the M-700 bolt face, but to do this with the M-7 would require that I pull the bolt out of the receiver every time I wished to unload an unfired round. If you load rounds short enough to feed from the magazine there would be no difference, and for anyone who appreciates a short trim rifle the M-7 has much to offer.
