Modern 3-gun shoot Ponoka Ab

Yes, having a rifle that will shoot MOA doesn't do any good if the one behind the trigger is waving around like a flag in the breeze. Actually it's probably worse, because I know I can't blame the rifle. I realized that I don't shoot unsupported. I always find a tree or something for support. This was a real eye opener, and showed me just how much I need to go back to the basics.

Had a lot of fun. Robert sure does keep a brisk pace, I like it. Didn't like so much him schooling me in 8 seconds at the duelling tree :p

Well done, sir.

today we had sun

For the shoot today we had sun and wind. 11 shooters. First round down range by 10 and last shot by 2. We had a lot of fun. I really appreciate everybody who showed up. Everybody helped and we had fun.

With the turn out we had maybe now I can convince the club to hold these more often.

Cheers
Robert :welcome::)

Hey did you ever get your shot gun working. I sighted my rifle in and was way low and right. Guess I should have done that first.

shotgun problems

Yeah I took the shotgun apart and found a pellet stuck in the trigger mech. Removed the pellet, fixed burrs on the magazine follow, and lubed it up. It worked great on Sunday.

Had lots of fun shooting on Sunday (it had been almost 2 years since I'd shot) and the weather, although a bit windy, was beautiful. I too was not able to get my rifle sighted in due to my range being closed but it was fun at least hitting the paper.

Oh and no shotgun problems....pump FTW!! :p

I will email you with the excel sheet.

For Stage 1 it really pays to use a bolt action rifle with scope, take your time, and especially have your gun sighted in. We will probably change the target up for next time from bulleye to IDPA. That way the guys with iron sights and semi auto rifles will get some points.

For Stage 2 it was won by a SKS with 42 points and 22 hits. I got 32.2 points using a bolt action rifle with iron sights and used 13 rounds. What can I say I like old school guns (Lee Enfield No 4). Next year I will use my semi auto and give you a run for it Allan.

I think we all have to practice to catch up with Sam in the other stages. I would say with no doubt Sam Brownfield:) was the best overall shooter.

thanks for everyone who came out - especially on Saturday in the rain. thanks to all who help RO, Score keep, and setup/tear down. We started by 10AM each day and were finished cleanup by 3PM each day.

See you all for our shoot in October.
