I recall reading somewhere that in regards to Swedish mausers you must be careful as to the ammo you purchase because modern rounds have higher pressure ratings than what the rifles are rated for. I was wondering if there is any truth to this and maybe get some guidelines for feeding your milsurps modern ammo. Frankly I always thought the opposite was true and that old army ammo was loaded hotter.

Should do a thread on various milsurp guns and whether commercial ammo could be used for it.......

Such as the mauser and all its variants....swede, israeli, spanish, german etc etc etc.

Question comes up often, and ive asked it myself.

If you can blow up a mouser with commercial ammo, then you should not buy any hunting rifle since they are just about all based on the same action.

The only one I can think of that would be iffy is one Spanish mauser that was converted to .308. I think it might be the FR7.
They bored out the chamber and soldered in a chamber insert chambered for 7,62.
Couple of years ago someone posted the result, and it was NASTY. The barrel let go just ahead of the insert. By the way, Spanish 7.62 for those rifles was loaded to lower pressures.
