This is my first build ever, I ordered a FA upper and lower from ATRS. Just got all my parts in. I am putting the standard mil spec trigger in last night and it doesn’t fit. It seems that not all triggers fit.

I tried taking the safety out, installing the trigger, but then the safety doesn’t work properly when everything is reinstalled.

Does anyone know if the Timney impact will drop in?

Thanks for any help. I was at it for awhile firing pins and springs all over the kitchen late last night.

If it's your first build, try disassembling everything and coming back to it after watching some TV for an hour or so. Follow through a Youtube tutorial (again).

It can be tough to succeed when you've been at it for a while and kept failing. Some breathing room and a pause to brain refresh can help.

Mil Spec should fit just fine.

Thanks for the reply. I will try again this evening, I have another of the same trigger I guess I can try, too.
When the hammer is cocked, the safety works, but when the hammer is up, the safety would not turn at all.

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean by "milspec"? Actually military specification components, or just plain jane unenhanced parts?

Pretty sure that's the way it works. Mine is the same, and since I only need the safety when it's cocked, I don't see it as a problem.

Funny I had to actually go and try my Rifle...classic line from a great movie.

I dont think you are able to operate the safety with the hammer forward. The safety only works when the hammer engages the sear. I could be wrong but I have an AR and an MDI SLR that work this way.

What do you mean by the safety won't work exactly? Does the hammer drop when the safety is engaged if you pull the trigger? Generally if the hammer is not cocked you will not be ae to move it from fire to safe.

Hahha ok. I am not used to an AR format obviously. Maybe I should have posted last night before taking it apart and putting it back together. Oh man!

Thanks for the info! Obviously a total newbie. Thanks for taking the time.

Hahaha yep! That’s pretty awesome.
That’s what I figured I would have to do, but thought I should ask first.
Thanks for the laugh.

The way the ar trigger is designed does not allow the safety to be engaged with the hammer is up. The safety can only be engaged when the hammer is cooked. The disconnecter which is the little claw looking piece in the trigger group gets in the way of the safety unless the hammer is cocked. Here is a good animation of how ar triggers work
