Modern Sporter Receiver Set

I will jump in here.

AR10 was not a prohib before. Now it is a specific prohib.

A lot of NR semi, like BCL and STAG 10, applied for the NR status as a descendant of AR10.

Since AR10 is now specifically named, they went the way prohib.

SLR and Modern Sporter are neither AR10 or AR15, they are their own animals.

This right here and, this is why they can not be a variant and thus deemed NR... for now

Exactly correct.

Thanks for stepping in guys.

Can you confirm the regulations doesnt prevent us from purchasing internal parts? It does prohibit "upper receivers" as well, not sure of what reach this has.

Youza.

Yeah that was my logic too.
Laws cannot be vague, they must have sold rules.
The fact that they used the word variant is worrisome. It opens the rule to be applied to many rifles if they aka RCMP deemed so.

So in this whole ban situation, I’m wondering if I can just declare my AR receiver (minus all the internals)?

So I've been on the fence about a receiver set. My only question is if I place an order now will I expect to see it within a year? Should I pay upfront so I own the receiver set?

The NR .308 Matrix also was targeted.

True, but isn't that platform also based off of the AR10?

Given that other ATRS products such as the AT15, Big Bertha, AT50 etc are on the list wouldn't it be fair to assume that ATRS is on the radar. If they really wanted the MS gone couldn't they have easily included it in the list?

They have all the tools to add it later, whenever they want. With the Blair Witch in the "safety Minister's seat, it could happen any time.

“ Even more importantly, the government says it will fix the regulatory regime used to impose the ban, so that manufacturers can’t get away with making minor tweaks to illegal models so as to render them legal.”

From the Globe and mail article.

Seems like they’re trying to close all the loop holes.
